I might go so far as to say that this is the best Kirby game yet. Kirby's transition to 3D has been handled so gracefully, and it was great to see the series innovating coming off of Star Allies, which worked on a formula that, while good, don't get me wrong, was starting to feel a little stale. Forgotten Land manages to take so much of what made 2D Kirby special and realize it wonderfully in 3D. The levels are incredibly detailed, and what the game lacks in quantity, it makes up for in quality. The search for Waddle Dees adds a nice element of exploration to otherwise linear levels (there's a nice balance here), and there's a lot of cute little secrets to find. Kirby controls great, the copy abilities are all fun to use (plus the upgrade system feels great), Mouthfull Mode is a genuinely really fun gimmick for the game (much better than all the other one-game gimmicks the series has been focused on since Return to Dreamland...), the presentation is amazing as always with Kirby games, and a certain elevator ride in the game's climax gave me chills (don't wanna give anything away to those unfamiliar, but I'm hoping if you've played the game, you know what I'm specifically referring to). Kirby's no stranger to vaguely unsettling stuff in his games, and I just eat it up. Overall, Forgotten Land was a game that kept me smiling throughout, and what more can you ask for?

Rating: Charming in all aspects, my new favorite Kirby.
